REIKI

Reiki is a spiritual healing art. It is not massage, nor is it based on belief or suggestion. The session is performed by a Reiki Practitioner using specific Reiki hand positions. The reiki treatment can be hands-on or hands-off or even remote ("distance reiki") depending on the preference of the client. During a Reiki session, the client is fully clothed while comfortably reclining on a massage table or seated in a chair. A Reiki session aids in stress reduction and it is almost always a very relaxing experience. Reiki sessions are a great investment in yourself.

Reiki is

• A subtle and effective form of energy healing using spiritually guided life force energy (Rei-ki)

• Practiced in every country of the world

• Being used in many settings including hospitals, hospice, as well as in private practice and in self-care

• A wonderful complementary modality in a personal wellness or healing program

 

Reiki is not

• Affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice

• New. Reiki energy work itself is thousands of years old.

 

Defining qualities of Reiki

• A practice of transmitting healing energy through the hands

• Passed on through the attunement process

• The energy is not guided by the practitioner, but the energy has its own innate wisdom to guide itself.

• Reiki energy is not based on belief, faith, or suggestion.

A Reiki session may help ease tension and stress and may help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels - physical, emotional, and spiritual. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is most often utilized for one’s own personal wellness.

MY REIKI SESSIONS - WHAT TO EXPECT

I offer in person sessions and remote sessions.

 

Distance reiki sessions can happen when you are sleeping, or when you have time to relax in a quiet space. All distance reiki sessions are 60 minutes in length. Should a client have a custom request, such as a last minute reiki session during a particularly stressful work day, they are encouraged to send me a message through the contact page. I speak with the client before the session at a mutually convenient time to answer questions and help understand the client's intention for the session; at this time, depending on the client's wishes, we can also set up a debrief meeting. At the agreed upon time for the session, I begin to serve as a guide for the reiki energies. As I work, I make notes of images or thoughts that arise or areas in the body which called for particular attention. During a debrief session, a client is invited to share their experience of the reiki energies and if the client would like to know more about the impressions I received during the session, those too will be shared.

In person reiki sessions begin with an energy clearing (smudging using white sage or a similar alternative) and a conversation about the client's needs and intentions for the session. Consent is received from the client at this time to do hands on work (where my hands are positioned on the body - physical touch), or to do the reiki session in the client's energetic auric space (above and around the body, but no physical touch). During the session relaxing and quiet meditative music will play in the background. Clients lay on a massage table on their back and have a blanket available should they feel cold which can be a common sensation for people receiving the reiki energies. A bolster pillow is offered under the knees to support the lower back. For clients with limitations in mobility, the reiki session can be done with the client in a chair sitting up right. After the session is complete, I offer the client an opportunity to discuss the experience if they wish. Some clients enjoy the quiet and want to hold onto that choosing to forgo a discussion, while others are interested in discussing the experience in great detail. There is no right way! I encourage my clients to honor their inner voice in this matter.
